Yamashiro built by the first feudal lord Hiroie Yoshikawa

Built in 1608 by the first feudal lord, Kikkawa Hiroie, this three-story, four-storey mountain castle in the Momoyama-style Nanban style was built with the Nishiki River flowing below as a natural outer moat and was situated on top of Shiroyama mountain at an altitude of about 200 meters. However, it was demolished eight years after it was built in accordance with the one castle per province system, and the current castle tower was rebuilt in 1962. Inside the castle tower, a detailed model of the Kintai Bridge, photographs, swords, calligraphy and paintings are on display, and the castle tower itself serves as an observation deck from which you can enjoy views of the city.
