Houmeisyu / Honmi Mirin Brewer
Okamoto Kametaro Honten is a brewery of Homeishu and Hon Mirin. It was established in 1855 as a sake business, and has been producing Homeishu since the Meiji period. It inherited the signboard and tools from the original Homeishu brewery, Nakamura-ya. Homeishu is a Japanese liqueur with over 350 years of history in Tomo, and is made by steeping 16 kinds of herbs in Hon Mirin. Okamoto Kametaro Honten's Homeishu is characterized by a good balance between a rich sweetness that contains a lot of amino acids derived from the Hon Mirin brewed in-house, and the aroma of herbs. In recent years, they have also developed new flavors of Homeishu that are further steeped in fruit and ginger, which have become popular. The building of the directly managed store is the Nagayamon gate of Fukuyama Castle, a relic from within the Fukuyama Castle grounds from the early Edo period, which was moved to the building in the Meiji period and is designated as an important cultural property of the city.
