Remembering each and every one of the victims of the atomic bomb and praying for peace
The Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims opened in August 2002 with the goals of remembering the precious sacrifices of those who died in the atomic bombing as a nation, praying for eternal peace, deepening the understanding of people all over the world about the devastation caused by the atomic bomb, and passing on the experience of the atomic bombing to future generations. Inside the hall, there is a space for praying for peace and commemorating the deceased, which features a panoramic view of the cityscape after the bombing as seen from the vicinity of Shima Hospital, the hypocenter. In the portrait corner, the names of those who died in the atomic bombing and their portraits (photos) are displayed, conveying the fact that so many people died in the atomic bombing. In the memoir reading room, you can view and watch materials such as memoirs of the atomic bombing and video testimonies of survivors.
