Statue of a mother and child holding a peace trumpet and watching over the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims

Date of construction: August 2, 1977. Built with the cooperation of the Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce and Industry and donations from school children across the country, the statue was donated by Katsuzo Entsuba. A child in the arms of a young mother is blowing a trumpet of peace, standing guard over the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims. At the unveiling, the statue's creator, Mr. Entsuba, spoke of his intentions: "From parent to child, from yesterday to tomorrow. The crescent moon will soon become a full moon. I want to sound the trumpet of peace in search of a new future."
