Floating pond with cenotaph for the atomic bomb victims

Date of construction: August 3, 1957 A pond surrounding the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims, designed so that the Cenotaph stands out. It is 17m wide and 70m long. When it was first constructed, it was a 2m wide pond surrounding the cenotaph on three sides, but when the ``Light of Peace'' was installed on August 1, 1964, the ``Light of Peace Installation Committee'' , the rear of the pond was expanded to 17m wide and 70m long, resulting in its current form. Twice a year, at the end of July and at the end of December, the Peace Lantern Society continues to carry out cleanup services.
