Tracing the close aide of Takakage Kobayakawa, Munekatsu Ura
You can experience zazen meditation and sutra copying at Shōunji Temple, where the grave of Munekatsu Ura, a close aide to Takakage Kobayakawa, is located. The experience concludes by listening to the chief priest's deeply touching story while enjoying a cup of tea. This is a 2 hour course. Zazen and sutra copying are types of meditation. Recently, meditation based on Eastern culture has become important in the West as well. It's a wonderful experience to empty your mind and free yourself from the daily clutter. Tadami is the place where Taira no Tadamori (Taira Taira no Kiyomori's father) named it after himself. From the temple, you can overlook the Seto Inland Sea, and behind you is Mt. Kurotaki, where you can see all the way to the Shikun peak. Mt. Kurotaki is home to Kannondo and 33 stone Buddha statues, so even beginners can easily enjoy hiking there. Also on the coast are the ruins of Ura Munekatsu's Kagi Castle and the Tokoura Shrine.
