Admire important cultural properties related to the Battle of Ishiyama and some of Japan's leading exhibits
This is a half-day sightseeing course where you can enjoy vegetarian cuisine, sutra copying, and the Ishiyama Battle Memorial Hall at Chozenji Temple, which was founded in the Kamakura period. After receiving the Nembutsu from the chief priest, we will calm our minds by copying sutras while looking out at the beautiful Japanese garden. Sutra copying is a form of meditation. Afterwards, we will visit the Ishiyama Battle Memorial Hall on the grounds. The Battle of Ishiyama was a battle fought between October 11, 1570 and September 10, 1580 between the Jodo Shinshu Honganji forces and Oda Nobunaga. The battle flag used at that time has been preserved. Enjoy vegetarian cuisine made with seasonal vegetables at Chozenji temple. This is a Buddhist dish that uses only plant-based ingredients. It is a Kaiseki meal. This is also suitable for vegans.
