Try authentic snow camping in the heavy snowfall area at the southwesternmost tip of Japan!

Camping in the snow is a special experience that can only be experienced in winter. You set up a tent in the pure white snowy scenery, tread down the snow, watch the snow fall quietly, and enjoy the warmth of a bonfire. Koita Makiba no Sato is located on the edge of a plateau at an altitude of 780m in the Chugoku Mountains, known as the southwesternmost area of Japan that receives heavy snowfall. This small, handmade campsite with 11 plots offers full-scale camping in the snow, with snowfall of nearly 1m in winter. Although the campsite does not have any special facilities, it has a flush toilet with a heated toilet seat and a washing area where hot water is immediately available, so you can stay comfortable even in the cold season. There are no street lights or lights from private homes in the surrounding area, and all the lights in the facilities on the site are motion sensors, so it is pitch black at night. Even from the tent site, you can enjoy the nature of the winter night, such as the starry sky with the winter constellations, mainly Orion, twinkling, and the moonlight casting blue shadows on the snowy fields. The meadow adjacent to the campsite is open to the public as a snow play area, so why not try playing in the soft, untucked snow or even snow hiking?
